Free at Last-March 8th, 2007

This past Monday, after spending the weekend in Chicago I was finally freed from my plaster prison. Well, it really wasn't that bad and the time did go pretty quickly. The first thing I thought was how soon can I get back on my bike and how much I appreciated two hands, but moving it is still a little tough so another two weeks and it should be good as new.

My family and I had originally planned to go to Chicago for the weekend and meet up with BUC and some others at Scrap on Saturday. That has been moved to a later date due to the injury-major bummer. Not to be selfish, but there is no way I'm going to Scrap to be a spectator, well it is a little selfish but it would really suck. So since no riding took place I felt a little touristy as is evidenced by the photos of obvious Chicago landmarks. They're still fun though.

I don't really think it's a full mile, but it is a little magnificent.

I always like finding the sore thumb, a building like this really sticks out in a bunch of skyscrapers. The weather was pretty shitty too until the day we left, then the sun came out.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

Somewhere we found this store with one giant jacket and a bunch of little pairs of jeans. As easily amused as I am, I wanted to go in and try to take a picture in the jacket, but it was closed.

Here's what went on locally...

BUC went on his frist ever trip to Del Taco and decided to document it.

Brandon Dosh did this huge gap from the a-ramp to the pyramid, I have no idea where all the speed came from. Racing gives you magical abilites to create speed out of nothing.

How would you like to bump into these guys in an alley?

Danger Dave off his bike.

Nick is taking off literally in the near future.

Craig being a contortionist.

Josh testing out the new long ledge.

On to Modern, it appears as though I missed another fine session.

Green Matt testing things out.

Scott stylin in the pool. Modern has been a little more lax in allowing bikes all over the park, in the little mini as well.

Kevin is a beast with a very high pain tolerance, he pulled it too.

-Sorry the update took so long, I'll do better next week!

Consider Yourself Teased-March 16th, 2007

So finally we get some nice weather, good enough to ride some street only to have it taken away two days laters. Michigan can be so fickle. I guess two days of warmth and sunshine are better than nothing. In other teases, I got back on my bike yesterday for the fist time in about 5 weeks and rode back and forth across Modern a bunch of times. It was great, but I was a little tense and my wrist felt shitty. I guess I was hoping that it would be just like it was before, but it takes time. Some riding is better than nothing. I'm greatful just to be pedaling.

This past weekend, as you already know, there was a contest in Modern Grand Rapids. We didn't make it out but our good friend in Charlotte, Alex Martinez, did. He took these and sent them back so we feel like we were there.

I have only walked passed the Modern out there while I was in Grand Rapids, I can't remember what I was there for. It was on a day when bmx wasn't allowed so I just wanted to see what it was like. It looked like fun. One day we'll get out there and actually ride it. Nice turnout.

I first saw this kid ride at a K-Zoo contest a couple years back. His name is Bob but people were calling him the angry asian. I don't know why, he didn't seem angry.

Catfish always makes for interesting times and photos.

Smalls consistent as always.

Soon there will be an interview with Craig on this site. I swear, hopefully.

Alex named this picture Ballslap and I just figured out why. Haha!

Kris K with an honest to goodness invert.

In every picture of Maddog, there is always a Maddog Sr. Can you find him?

Mr. Moon.

Alex sent these over just to make me jealous.

Man Up! Some of the locals got together at dug the remaining show out of the bowls at charlotte for a late winter session.

Corey Martin showed up and killed it of course.

Picture this place greener and with a barbeque grill, hopefully that'll be a reality in a few weeks.

Thanks again to Alex for all this pics.

First Days of Spring -March 23, 2007

For those of us not in Wisconsin this weekend, here's little something to keep you amused.

With the weather getting warmer out, buc and I are attempting to ride outside whenever possible. One of the first actual sessions took place the other night in Wayne where buc ran into Silent Chris and this posse. Note the shadows.

Dillon snapping a turn down out of a little kicker curb.

Silent Chris letting is riding speak.

Next stop was at the Redford park where BUC ran into Steve and Govan.

Steve is recovering from a bum shoulder. His birthday bash is going on tomorrow at Suchan's. I believe he's turning 18. If you're not in Milwaukee you should come.

Here is one of BUC's first attempts at a sequence. Govan with the smith to nose wheelie.

Back indoors for the rest of the week...

Joe Gall with the patented safety pad tap.

Joe and Courtney's baby Jayden taking it to the ramps at just the right age.

I am happy to say that I am back on a bike and almost in full effect, little ways to go though.

Scott quite a nice guy and always fun to ride with.

A little more footage of the sibling style throwdown at Modern mentioned by Scott Towne on Deliverance.

Carmichael and Rob Wagel are starting a new trend with their cruisers, their most recent recruit was Stewy.

Danger Dave has taken to the single life.

I know it's a little out of focus but it is pretty ridiculous. He did get his hand down and rode away. It's more of a hand stand than a hand plant. That's Sparks for you.

We're gonna be riding in Ann Arbor on Saturday night, hopefully the weather will hold out. Anybody who's free should come out. Then probably over to Suchan's to wish Steve a Happy Birthday.

Michigan Warming-March 29th, 2007

We've made it to another spring and it can't get warmer fast enough. Some of us who didn't go to Rattyfest went out to Ann Arbor for the first street session there of the season. We has about 15 people and then we met up with Thomas and his crew for a bit. Since there were so many people, it was a little hard to maneuver around the city so it was mostly just hanging out, but a good time nonetheless in the outdoors finally.

Terry cranking a turndown off a little ledge.

Like I said earlier, we spent a lot of time riding around. We went all the way out to this bowl, which is one of our favorite places to ride only to find that the lights were off. It doesn't look it in the photo, but some tried their hand and blind bmx.

On the way back we stopped by Suchan's to wish Redford Steve a Happy Birthday.

Kyle was there and getting into some tight spots. He did pull this clean.

That's no way to act on your birthday.

TRP on Thrusday

Carmichael and Rob put away their cruisers away long enough to play a rousing game of skatepark hippie frisbee.

Then they put away the frisbee to actually ride TRP on normal bikes.

Joe and Danger Dave showed up to practive the trickly bunny hop barspin.

Kevin has this huge wall ride dialed, now he's working on hopping off the wall into the third box take off.

Happy to say that the interviews are finally up, procrastination is an art and I'm good at it. Actually the entire Locals section has been updates so take a look.

New stickers are in...

Not meant to be taken to0 seriously, just a little joke on buc and I.

New shirts shortly!

Make sure to check up on Albes as they are on mega tour this week.

Team Young has a fine wrap of the weekend in Wisconsin.
