Random Happenings-February 7th, 2008 I notice that we've been hitting one note with our updates lately, so we're changing it up a bit this time around. It's still pretty much TRP pictures but with a slightly different point of view, TRP and the surrounding areas.
OK, well there's still lots of TRP.
Andy Vader paid a little visit back to the park and skateboarded, and bmxed, and rollerbladed. Is rollerbladed the proper title, should I say in-line or something?
This is our public service announcement.
There was a Timmy sighting.
Dillon learned backflips over Ray's big box. So TRP's box was easy. They're actually really good backflips, smooth and high every time.
This was his reward.
Joe has mastered the tailwhip again.
I think that's Robbie.
This is what's known as the White Lotus.
What would an update be without Craig?
This is Scott Goss, fully extended, taken by fledgling photog Bryan Young.
Bobby.
The agony of bmx. That's the other end of Kyle by the way.
Speaking of agony. The first box at trp as been temporarily altered. It is now a almost a 3 foot step up, so if you always wanted to clear the second box without even thinking about casing, now is your chance. If your Kevin you get so much speed of the first box that you rocket launch off the second box only to run into the rafters on the ceiling and get knocked right back to earth. It wasn't pretty. Don't worry though.
He went on to do this and said only his back hurt a little confirming that he is a different species. Now for the pics outside of trp that I promised.
This is buc's new muse.
This looks like another planet.
This looks like our planet. It's a park near buc's.
I have no comment on this one.
My brother, Ali, likes donuts of all kinds...and speaking of donuts.
Doesn't this make you want donuts? Dong forget! Albe's will be premiering the new Come Up dvd at TRP in a late session this Friday. Here are the details.
I won't be there because I'm leaving for a weekend in Chicago (regrettably with no bike) tomorrow morning. Of course buc will be there to fill me in on all that I miss. On Monday, we're going out for our first trip to Zero Gravity. Join us, won't you? ~Hanan We're Engaged!-February 22nd, 2008 Yup, you all knew it was gonna happen. Buc decided to take the leap and ask me to marry him. Here's how it went down.
I should have known something was wrong when buc came in to ride with his helmet strapped on really tight, and Bayliss was pointing a camera at me for no good reason. Buc appeared to be eating shit on a 360.
I was standing on top of the wedge for the fall and I saw carmickle race down the roll in to help buc. This made me think that he was either unconscious, bleeding, or convulsing. I rushed over to him wondering how long we were gonna have to wait in the emergency room. When I got there he wasn't moving at all so I figured it was worse than I predicted. Out of nowhere, he grabs my hand, gets on one knee and pops the question.
Of course I said yes (he really didn't even need to ask, he knows he's stuck with me) and then I acted way too much like a girl. I'm actually kind of disappointed in myself for that.
Celebration ensued. Stewy is the one that got us together a whole five years ago. Damn, it took us a long time to get here. Thanks to Stewy for making it happen, Carmickle for being the ringbearer, Bayliss for videotaping, and Brian for being the photog.
The ring was a little big, but I kind of like how it looks on this finger. OK, now back to business as usual. I'm gonna work backward through time Here's TRP.
Biker Ben and Nate came out for a visit and buc got back to his roots with with some film photos.
Nate doing his best jet fighter 360.
Pictures with bottoms of shoes are always good as Joe demonstrates.
This is what happens to Dillon's bike when he's not around.
Poor Dillon. Look, Stewy lost a shoe.
Andy is flying.
Terry has the spine dialed, look at that booty!
Kevin Jarvis came out for a visit a weekend or two ago and is meeting us a Rays this Sunday, you should too.
Kenny was involved in a little altercation north of the border.
This little obstacle got the better of carmickle.
Buc is jealous of Eli over this trick, I am too actually.
Loaf doesn't just do grizz airs, Loaf is grizz airs. Portrait by Brian.
Check back soon for a Kyle interview, I'm sure it won't disappoint. Now back a couple weekends and out first trip to Zero Gravity. I can't be live it took us so long to get to this park. It proved amusing, but it's no TRP.
Ricky is one of the nicest people in bmx.
Heather workin on the big box.
John Adams cannot take a bad photo
Rob Cameron showed up and got in some impressive runs
Yankee was there.
So was Bry.
This is Peppi and this is the first tuck no hander he's done in a long time. Pulled it first try.
First I hated this box then I loved it. The other day at TRP was was about to take a run and my chain broke. My stem became very well aquatinted with my knee, but it's good now. The next day at work, buc did this.
Now he can't ride at Ray's which means there are going to be a lot of photos next week. Speaking of Ray's. It's ladies weekend there. We're going out there on Sunday and I believe Albe's is bringing the bus. Come out and show some love for the ladies. Even if you don't want to support the ladies (and I don't know why you wouldn't) you should come anyway. And next week, go here!
I think Scott Towne is putting this contest together and it should provide some good times and carnage. Check deliverance for all the details. This is another park we've never road and opportunity is knocking on our door. Scott is awesome and says exactly what we're all thinking, just with much better grammar. I totally agree with him about this winter nonsense. Last but definitely not least, Come say farewell to Dee as she kisses winter good bye at her going away jam tonight (the 22nd) at TRP at 11pm. I'm gonna miss ya Dee, send me back some of that warm weather!
Yes, I stole that picture from her myspace but it's too cute.

More Snow-February 28th, 2007 Winter is wearing on me. I'm over the snow and cold and being sick. Everyone I know has or had a cold in the past few week and I'm tired of getting up in the morning and having to blow my nose for a half hour. A nice sunny vacation sounds really good right now, but Grand Rapids will have to do. We're heading out there this Saturday for the modern contest. You should come too.
Here's a wrap of last weekend's trip to Ray's.
Sean was the leader of our caravan. About 5 minutes after we left, a cop bolted out onto telegraphed and raced up to Sean's truck. We thought the trip was ending early for sure, but the cop pulled over the guy driving next to Sean and all was well.
We went out for the girl's weekend but because it was Sunday we missed most of the activity. I did get to meet Corey Coffee, but she couldn't ride because of knee problems and a face plant that happened the week before. She was in good spirits though and it was awesome to finally meet her. We showed up just as Nina was going to work but Nina's fun no matter what.
Ray's is home to crazy tailwhipping mountain bikers. Tailwhips are bad enough on our little teeny bikes, I can't even imagine them on big bikes.
For some reason, Jarvis did one run shirtless in the the name of summer.
There were rays of light coming from this quarter to subwall when I saw it. I haven't got to ride a set up like this since Modern. The first time we went to Ray's I hardly even looked at the Subaru park, it is now my favorite.
Not sure of these two fellows' names, but they look familiar, Chenga 1 locals?
Brian was working the wall around the spine.
We see Steve Katz at Ray's almost as much as we see him at TRP.
Word is that Marcum is moving to Michigan. He's hilarious and yes that is a rented mountain bike.
One of the Ray's employees was almost beheaded while announcing the Albe's raffle. He kept saying something about a foot down contest. I was wondering how are they going to have foot down in this enormous ass skatepark.
That's how
Carnage ensued and Brian won a water bottle! Now back to TRP for Dee's going away jam and other photo worthy events. I'm not sure which is which so I'm putting them all together.
Sparks is nuts and yes he pulled it.
Dee is on her way to Cali and she sent over some words for us and you all too. Dee is one of the sweetest people I know. Just one of many that have come my way because of bmx. 2/23/08 ill miss the sound of people laughing. ill miss the steady noise of ticking and the warm breeze hitting my face. Hours pass by but we cant tell. We cant tell as we pedal our way up through the the streets of ann arbor.Passing by frat houses making fun of the dude bros playing beer pong listening to dave matthews band. Then you get to that one spot. That one spot so and so found out from so and so, and Everywhere you pass on the way you learn to appreciate that place much more. Its like finding a gold mine filled with endless opportunities. The best treasure of all was learning a new trick. You then start getting hungry so you ride down the big hill with your feet off the pedals and your arms out.It kinda feels like flying. You slam on your brakes make a bike tree then you sit down with all your friends at btb talking about random things, and laughing at the funny remarks coming from the kid that wont shut up. We were all totally different people, but we got along like we were family. We welcomed in anyone and everyone who loved what we did. No one ever said anything behind anyones back we would always come to that person and talk it out. If someone was sad wed give them a hug and you would always feel better no matter what it was. We were always there for one another. Then winter came before we knew it. So we rode at our home away from home. The one place we always felt welcome at.TRP. We would have late night sessions riding for hours goofing off and having fun. It was my escape from the world. It was our home. After we rode we would all stand outside in a circle and talk for hours. No matter how cold it was. We always had something to talk about. Ill miss that more then anything. Now the days are passing by and we are all growing old moving on to bigger things in life but no matter what. No matter what happens in our lifes we will always have one thing in common. That one thing we will always still love and share.bmx. I love you all, and ill miss you. Thanks for being like a second family to me. Well said, a perfect picture of so many of our trips to Ann Arbor. Damn, riding street sounds so good right now. Michigan is gonna miss her, but she's always just a myspace away. Come back and visit soon. Best of luck Dee! ~Hanan
