Update is an Understatement-October 4, 2006

Fall is officially upon us, and there is alot going on. I spend all summer dreading fall and then it get's here and I realize that I'm ok with fall. I'm glad to say that this little site has made it though the summer and now hopefully we'll make it through the winter. It can be hard work sometimes to get all this done and keep things organized, but we've found out that we really like the process. Our goal for the site is that it be like a little newsletter for the scene here in Michigan. We love to ride the same places with all the same people. Traveling, and seeing something new is always fun, but for us, the best part of any trip is coming home. It's always fun to ride here and we want to show why. Everyone should know everyone else. We've decided that each month we're gonna post a little profile on some of the people we consider veterans. It's not really a team, just a little collection of the people we ride with the most and have the best times with. Veteran doesn't necessarily mean someone who's old or been riding for years, we think it's more of an approach. The first feature is on Stewy of course. Buc and Stewy have been friends for about 8 years, and Stewy played a major role in getting the two of us together. Click on the Locals link or the photo below to view his profile and too many photos.

In some additional news, Halloween fast approaches and we can't let it go by without getting some kind of event going. We've decided on Friday the 13th.

Show up to TRP around 7, have all the food you want, come out to a haunted house, scream your ass off, and then come ride a special bike only session. The $18 includes everything. If you only want to ride the session just show up at 11 and pay $5 (sorry, you're on your own for food) We've got to have at least 15 to get into the haunted house. It is real important that you e-mail us or tell us in person if you want to go...hanan@veteranbmx.com or buc@veteranbmx.com. If we don't get enough for the haunted house the session will still go on as scheduled. Alot of the haunted houses will run you about the same amount so it's worth it, and you can't get through October without going to one. If enough people are at the session we may do a little best trick jam or something along those lines.

Now, business as usual and the summary of this past week. I think we've rode Transitions at some point everyday. Oh well, it was all good. On Firday we went out to westland before TRP.

I can't tell who is more scared, Stewy or the guys on the floos. Credit to Suchan for being the last one. That would be a shitty feeling to case onyour firend's stomach.

Kevin with a barspin 180.

This is one of the days when we went to transitions, not sure which one though. Buc with a wallride lookback. Photo credit to Stewy.

This is the ladies's section. I remember when I first started riding a little more than two years ago. Kristin was the only other girl I knew that rode. Now it seems like every time I go to any park there is another girl there shreddin. It's good to see that the number of girls that ride is increasing. But the main point is not that they are girl riders, but just people who like to ride in general. Anytime a person can ride a bike and get a kick, they're ok in my book.

Angie perfecting the x-up.

You probably can't tell, but this is my attempt at a tuck. Progress is slow, but I'm happy with it. Unlike double pegs where the progress has ceased.

Jody is a local at transitions and was a skater until about two months ago. Now she's found the glory of the bike and is progressing quickly, by clearing the box.

One of the days at TRP included Corey Martin's mid air acrobatics,

Along with Scott Haddix and this tuck no hander.

On Sunday, we met up with Suchan, Timmy, and Stewy and did a little tour of the area. We started out with Wolverine.

Suchan with a barspin.

Stewy spent the morning in the hospital taking care of his leg. When I pulled up everybody was riding around. By the time I got my bike out and rode over, Stewy was on the ground in pain. He relaxed for a little while, took some photos and then was back on the bike.

This is one from Stewy while on injured reserve. We call it Timmy fuf on the curb while smoking a cigarette.

Another one taken by Stewy. We may recruit him to be our full time photographer.

Next, we went out to the Redford skatepark. It's real small and pretty basic pre-fab ramps. You look at it trying to figure out what to do and then you see Redford Steve kill the place and do shit you couldn't think of.

Here is Steve making it look easy.

Suchan attempting a tailwhip in the dark. Black ramps and night riding do not mix.

We finished the night at Transitions, where we found the Cobras.

Pretty good finish to a fine day.

You can find Scott Towne's thoughts on Deliverance. He's got the new shirts up there too... They're nice.

Solan is a racer and has style to spare. Here, with an unturndown

I've only rode with Sean Rakos a few times. The first time, buc broke a crank and tore a hole in his leg, so I was a little paniced as we went to the emergency room for stitches. Since he's back in Michigan, we've rode with him a couple times, I'm finding out that he's hilarious. He's usually got a pretty serious look on his face, but then he says the funniest shit. Good times.

If you plan on coming out on the 13th, we've got to know ahead of time so don't forget.

The S Word-October 17th, 2006

The last week or so has been too too busy, and it's been way too long since we updated. None of this was made any better by shitty snow. It's the middle of October, there are christmas trees in all the stores and it's snowing. It's like the twilight zone. I don't get it. Anyway, some things actually having to do with fall did go on. We went out to an apple orchard, on a day that wasn't snowing, and found this.

It's a dead tree that grew fruit. We were amused. This must be the shit that got Adam and Eve in trouble.

Lots of other stuff went of in the past 12 days or so including our Friday the 13th "event." Things went real well and the turn out was great. Thanks to everyone who came and hope you had a good time. Now we get to come up with something else for next time.

Here's a little overview of a Modern session.

Ed from Birmingham is always fun to ride with.

I think Stewy scaled something to get this pic of Jeff Tabb.

Buc was in the line of fire for this smith by Scott Towne

Dan Closser got a nasty flat somewhere in the session. No worries, he just hopped on buc's big brown bike and killed it anyways-brakes optional.

We've determined that buc stops breathing whenever he takes a run.

Stewy with a pedal stall on some ductwork.

Dane reppin the Tigers with the current color scheme .

We were at TRP a bunch, but this the only good photo we got out of it.

Davey taking mowing to a new level.

Friday the 13th went real well, anytime we get to eat and ride we're happy. Lots of people showed up and had a nice mellow session. We thought about doing a best trick, but everyone was having a good time without it so we just let it go. . Taking 18 bikers to a hounted house is an experience. We'll for sure do it again next year.

Some of the participants.

Carmickle being Carmickle

Resident rad dad, Rich.

Some mods were made to TRP. Bayliss workin the wallride tailwhip.

Apparently, John Gordon was there although I never actually seen him.

Vinnie Truckdriver.

Rhese with a rare no foot can can over the frist box. Later he was debating what to backflip and said he never backflipped the box before. I knew he was kidding but just in case....

Here's proof.

Dane Invert Wilde.

Not really sure what Spark is doing here but I bet it was gnarly.

In some shittier news, Dave Patterson's arm is hanging on by a thread. He separated it at Modern the other day and will take some time to recover.

Craig bein grizzly.

We had planned to go to Charlotte on Saturday, but Friday night we were so tired and we thought it would rain so we gave up on it. We wake up way late on Saturday and the weather looks too good not to go. We load up into a car and drive out there. As soon as we get in the area of Lansing, the sky clouds up and it drops to 40 degrees. We suffered through it and rode for a little more than an hour. Three hours of driving for one hour of riding. We might have had the right idea Friday night.

It was worth it though, my brother Ali hates to ride indoors so he didn't care that it was cold. He got his first feeble on a sub and is pretty excited.

Charlotte local Alex working on the fuf. Alex saved the day and let us come over his house to hang out so the trip wasn't a total loss. It turned out to be a real good time.

We Surrender-October 22, 2006

Not really too much to say lately, we'll let the photos speak.

Interesting little session at TRP on Friday night. Everyone was getting geared up for the Team Young Halloween Party.

Look Dad, no feet!

For the whole session we were trying to go out to Ann Arbor and ride street. First we had to wait for everyone to get out there. Then, we misplaced the keys and thought they were locked the in the car. Then we found them and finally got in the car and ready to go when there was a little auto incident in the parking lot. We figured it wasn't meant to be and just stayed at the park. It was still a good time despite the shitty luck.

Stewy on the right and Stewy on the left.

Saturday was the Team Young Halloween party.

There was a ridiculous amount of people there. Joe Gall is the shit and knows how to throw a party, I mean wedding.

Speed Racer squared.

Rhese was lit by the time we got there, he asked buc if he wanted a beer 5 or 6 times. Every time is was like the first time.

It's a good thing Craig's suit was insured.

A zombie, a pimp, and a superhero walk into a bar...

Timmy was way too proud of his costume.

The years of being lost have not been kind to Waldo.

Sparks may or may not have gotten laid by a certain somebody.

Dave Patterson wins for most innovative costume.

TEAM YOUNG for more photos!

We caught the last hour of the Modern session. I was actually surprised to see a pretty good turnout, given the night before I thought most people would still be recovering.

It was pretty mellow, but fun.

Lastly, we have given into the peer pressue and given up on trying to set up a message board on this site. We now have a myspace and will eat all the shit we've talked about it up until now. If you're one of the many that told us to get one, go be our freind because it all your fault (and we need the validation) We figure we've been supplying plenty a myspace photo so why not have our own.

Devil's Day-October 30, 2006

Halloween is tomorrow and I love Halloween, so I'm excited. Anyway, we rode TRP a bunch this week and that's ok because we love that park. Winter will be here soon and TRP will be like our second home so we're just getting warmed up. We're working on a Veteran's Day jam there in the coming weeks just for the fun of it. We couldn't let it go by without doing something. Here's the last week. Lots of random riding.

Not that Dillon needs a bigger head, but he's young and he's good. As for talking so much...

Scott was there and has the ability to make a session interesting.

Not stuff you see everyday.

Play nice.

Lawn mowers are all the rage lately. Not too many are better at it than Davey.

Ray from the Warehouse area with a nice invert.

Hanging around Transitions, which we don't do nearly enough.

Kyle x-up air.

Team Danger pre birthday festivities.

Craig tuck no hander with spaghetti on the side.

Saturday was Angie's 19th birhtday. A bunch of us went out to Cici's and then returned to TRP for cake and a rent out.

Angie enjoying her b-day. Oh to be a teen again.

Earlier in the day BUC and Joe Gall worked on some dualing flash ninja photography.

Kyle got there just in time for a little best trick contest and to do this nose pic in much too comfortable shoes.

Birthday girl with a pedal feeble.

Timmy was barspinning everything.

Jack created his own little pocket air in the park. Mobile ramps are cool.

Loaf packs alot into every run he takes. Loaf=Ripper.

Redford Steve won the best trick. We may have to take the Redford off of his name because the kid can ride anything. The 540 tire grab got the job done.

On Sunday we were out and about solely to have a variety of photos to put on this site. Well not really, but that had a little to do with it. BUC, Suchan, and Govan rode Redford and some of Detroit for a little while.

When there are no clouds in the sky, you are required to ride your bike outside regardless of temperature.

Anywhere Steve showing off his versatility.

Govan 360 over the curb.

Suchan managed to climb on a roof and plan the next update for bmx.cc. He's been on a roll lately.

My bro and I met up with them at Sooch's house where we rode the garage ramps for a little while.

Yup, that's Govan airing a quater.

Modern next.

Jeff Tabb doing a tobaggan with a broken wrist.

Suchan getting reaquainted with the big hip.

Look closely, Squirrel one handed table.

Kevin 270 truck.

We finished out the night with some dinner. Hatfield joined us, and Kristin and Melissa met us there. It was a good time and rounded out a long week. Long weeks are good, why would you want time to go by fast? All the shit you cram into a day, work and riding and everything else seems like too much, but really it's a good thing. Last Sunday seems forever ago and that's the way it should be.

Check back for info on Veteran's Day!
