Home Sweet Home-July 7, 2007

This past week we were feeling bummerd after realizing that we weren't going to be able to go to the Modern GR Road Fools stop (stupid work). Wednesday, in the midst of our self pity we were heading out for a regular old session at TRP. And what do we find in the parking lot? The entire Road Fools crew, and we rejoiced. Needless to say, the session was fantastic. Got to meet a lot of people we had only seen from afar or read about. Each of them were very cool. Scotty Cranmer stole the show with single lines that involved more shit that we will ever even know how to do. He was super cool as well. Really we should have more pictures but we were preoccupied with riding, our priorities are partially in order. Here's what we did manage.

A Ross was doing crazy shit all over the park. At one point we almost ran into one another full speed, the crash was narrowly avoided and it's a good thing because I would have felt like shit.

Catfish going big and not so big. A rare appearance without a mic in his hand.

The locals were doing pretty well themselves.

There was a Chase Hawk siting.

I've seen Natalie Wagoner doing crazy shit in alot of magazine and in videos but never met her. So it was even better to ride with her and find out that she is so nice. Not to mention that she's a badass. First thing she went after was smith stall on the quater of doom by the roller. She pulled it too.

Mike Aitken best 360's ever.

Great night, especially because we got to stay late and because of the company we had. Good times all around, Leland Thurman is hilarious. Although, after seeing the coverage from Scott on Deliverance, I'm still wishing we could have gone out to Modern.

On Saturday, buc had his first ever get together at his house and some street riding ensued in his new home town.

We found out that Dane Wild only eats pizza. I mean I knew he liked pizza, but really that's the only thing he eats. I was baffled.

Buc's driveway got worked.

Then we went out to find some Dearborn street. I've lived in Dearborn my whole life so I had some stuff in mind, but really there's not too much going on.

Govan ate shit on this rail really bad, it was not pretty, but he was ok after a while.

Dane Wild had to do a little pruning to get at this rail, but it was worth it.

My brother, Ali, hardly rides at the parks but when he's in the street it's a different story.

We ventured over to this spot, it's technically not Dearbon, but close enough.

My bro with his first real wall ride, I tried to follow suit. I took about a thousand bitch runs but I managed to get a few good ones in. I was told I got about three inches up the wall, I need photographic proof to believe it so I'm still trying.

Next weekend, Alex from Charlotte is having a bonfire/jam/bbq/campout on his property. It has occured to us that Veteran is 1 year old so we figure this would be a good way to celebrate. It should be a whole weekend of riding all around Lansing, and anything else that seems like a good time. Most of the details are in the works, but get your tents and sleeping bags out now. I've never been camping before and I'm a little tense for some reason. Oh well, first time for everything. Let us know if you're interested. It'll be go from Saturday July 14th to Sunday July 15th. Much Thanks to Alex and his family for making it all happen.

Happy 7-7-07

Camping In-July 21st, 2007

Lot's of riding this past week, which is a welcome change of pace. Summer isn't gonna be here forever so we're really trying to take advantage of that.

All the way back to when it started...crowded street session in Wayne.

This spot was really good, lots of options.

We went over to this bank to fence at one of the Ford factories out there. Steve Blake spent about a half hour trying to rig this up to work. Every time he hit it, it just fell apart, it if would have stayed together he would have pulled it for sure.

Later in the week out to Northville, where there are a few things to ride but nothing major.

Redford Steve was after this barspin but it was downhill and there were too many hazards including electricity and traffic.

This is the first gap buc has done in a long time oddly.

At the end of the week I had to stand up in one of my friend's wedding, so I was absent and jealous of all the shit I missed. All this stuff is in Southfield.

Then to Detroit.

This scared the shit out of me when I first saw it.

Hey kids, it is definitely a good idea to play in the alleys in Detroit, everyone should try it.

Finally out to Charlotte for the campout. I have never actually slept outside before, which is odd. So I figured this would be a good way to start. Camping with training wheels. We were in Alex's backyard so the bathroom wasn't too far. I guess it wasn't really camping with a bathroom that close, but I did sleep outside at least so it's a start.

The foot jams were a popular maneuver

Jeff Tabb in the deep end.

Ali has been double pegging everything, I'm jealous. Stupid pegs.

Stewy killed of course.

The whole weekend was made possible by Alex and his family. Truly nice people, they took good care of us and provided freeza which was much appreciated.

I was dying to see Govan in the bowls, but he stuck to the ledges.

This girl threatened to kick Jeff Tabb's ass like seven times. And when that didn't work she said she would get her dad to shoot him in the face with his bullet gun.

Putting up tents in the dark was definitely a good call.

Apparently at this point, buc's photo taking abilities were somewhat compromised.

Bonfire Madness...

Morning at the compound. A fuckin rooster woke me up at like 5 in the morning. Once I got used to it I went back to sleep. I don't know if I would make it in the country too long, either that or I would kill all the roosters.

Jeff Tabb had a rough trip, not only was he threatened by a toddler, he smashed his face on the concrete in Charlotte probably breaking his nose, and then his car wouldn't start.

Nothing ranch dressing and donuts can't fix.

This was probably the best breakfast from any restaurant I've ever been to.

Jeff was in good spirits despite the difficulties.

Throughout the night, every time I looked in this things direction I thought there was some live animal about to attack. I felt better when Brian tamed it.

Govan passed out early in a chair by the fire. That's where we left him when we all went to sleep. In the morning this is where we found him.

After breakfast and leaving Jeff's car in the parking lot we went out to Holt Park.

They have a huge box there and Kenny owned it. He barely used the landing.

Govan recovering.

In order to get speed for this 180, Stewy had to book it around a corner.

There were a few trial runs that didn't go as planned

Back to Charlotte

Stewy multi-tasking.

Kenny readjusting to gravity.

The airs are getting there.

Jeff's car started up long enough to get back to Alex's house and then it died again. It's still out there.

Hopefully, we can maintain this amount of riding for the rest of the summer. Thanks again to Alex for putting up with us, and to everyone that came out. We will definitely do this again soon.

Buc is gonna be 27 on Monday. Damn we're old. If you haven't heard yet, I'm putting on a little get together at his house on Sunday afternoon around 3pm. Then we're going out to the westland park and then probably to ride street. Buc doesn't have his computer hooked up yet so he has no idea. Nobody tell him about it. All are more than welcome to come, but you have to let me know you're coming first otherwise you don't get to eat. Message me if you need directions.
