Something New - July 3, 2006

I know that lately it seems like everybody and their mother has a website.  If you’ve found this site you’re probably wondering what buc and I could possibly have to say and why you would want to read it.  I guess there’s not really a proper answer for that question.  Opinions make the world go round and this here is just a venue for one more.  It’s called veteran mostly because of our current place in life.  We’re getting up there in age and it seems like we look back on childhood quite often and wonder what happened to it.  Buc has been riding for 10 years and we’ve been together for about 4 of them.  I started riding about two years ago.  So I guess it can be said that we are veterans in life and riding.  It’s pretty interesting dealing with all the things that come with being an adult and trying to hang on to childhood.  We feel that we’re a pretty interesting bunch and if you’re reading this you might agree. If not, that’s ok because it’s all the same to us.  The purpose of this site is just to document our days because we feel they’re pretty exceptional.  There aren’t too many people who would understand the way we go about things.  Everyday life is nothing to be ashamed of or bored with.  Riding the same park over and over, going to the grocery store, it’s all living and you should make sure it’s a blast.  That’s what we try and do and why we think we’ve got something to share.  This site is a celebration of making everyday worth talking about.  It’s about looking forward to growing old, but not growing up.

What's Old is New Again-July 8, 2006

We unexpetedly took a little trip out to Ann Arbor today, and you'll just have to take our word for it becuase there are no photos to prove it (those will come as soon as we get the funding for a new camera in order) We met up with Kris K there and a bmx adventure ensued, not because of a bunch of crazy tricks went on, but instead because we just took off through the outskirts of the city on bicycles. We started out looking for some illeged trails, but never found them. We found the clearing where Sean Rakos' old trails were before they got plowed. It's all leveled and grass grows there now like the trails never existed. It's actually pretty sad to look at. After that we were followed by a mountain biker on a creepy trail and Kris K snacked on some leaves found in the woods. We decided to call it a night fairly eary as some of us had to get up and go to work. The whole point of this is that nothing major has to go on for something to happen. Riding along and exploring new parts of a city we have been to dozens of times is enough. I feel bad not putting any pictures up so i guess I'll put some of one of the other times we visited Ann Arbor in the not so distant past. Enjoy!

This wallride is a bust, but we were able to pull a little covert mission to let buc hit it a couple times.. Some guy showed up here and thought that all the bmxers were there just to amuse him, he was quite impressed.

Pardon the photo quality, we aren't quite digital at this point. If you can't tell that's Stewy with a ridiculously big and dangerous gap. You can't tell in the picute but his face says it all.

That's it for now. Better pics coming soon...hopefully

Home Turf-July 18, 2006

Saturday started out a little boring. Anybody who's ever tried to coordinate a bunch of people going to a bunch of places knows what i mean. Phone calls back and forth trying to figure out who will be where when. It can put you in a bad mood. After about 2 hours of figuring out where to actually go we wound up at the ramps and Ron Thomas' house. Those involved were myself, buc, my bro, angelo, the always-talking dillon, suchan, and govan.

Road trips are always fun, even if they are only 15 minutes up the road.

It's a pretty tight set up. Props to Ron Thomas wherever he is for having such a factastic mini in his back yard. If you've ever seen his portable box jump combo, you already know of his engineering genius. If i had it, i would never leave my house, except to get away from the giant mosquitos.

After that we went up to this curved wall ride in wyandotte. It took us a half hour to find it even though it was really like 5 minutes away. Suchan had suprisingly never been there so he made quick work of it.

The weekend continued with the Sunday night session at modern. It was about 100 degrees outside so inside it was only like 85.

The skins far outnumbered the shirts.

Goings On-July 24, 2006

A pretty eventful week was kicked off by the return of a couple TRP mainstays

Justin Bayliss and Steve Byrnes have returned from Woodward with tricks abound.

Bayliss with an icepick probably to hopover, i can't remember for sure but a plain ice pick wouldn't have been tech enough.

Since returning, Steve Byrnes will now increase the difficulty level on everthing by making funny faces directly at the camera while doing tricks.

On Saturday, we had a little surprise get-together at Charlotte to celebrate BUC being another year older. Senior citizenship fast approaches.

The Barbque was in full effect. What more could you want?

Govan tearin up one of the many fine ledges

Squirrel, Kevin, Chipper, and Rusty Keys showed up and joined the festivites. Squirrel was quite impressive while Rusty provided the dinner entertainment with some pretty interesting stories.

The Charlotte locals are some of the nicest kids around. That's Doug on the left, Alex in the middle, and Brain on the right. Of course it's Govan pimpin out the photo. It's always a good time when we all hang out.

A few of the kids went on a little street mission. Suchan was the only one to come back with two good legs, even after this opposite feeble down a quite narrow ledge.

I just realized we dont have any photos of the birthday boy himself. This one will have to do.

Here he is back when he was still 25.

We found this on the way home during one of our stops, we thought it was pretty amusing.

All in all, it was a pretty awesome weekend. What more could you want for your birthday besides bmx, good times and good food? Probably a new frame and an ipod. Then life would be complete

I'm adding a couple photos that we liked to the photo section just because it's too bare there. Really don't be shy, send in any photo that you're proud you took. Most likely others will enjoy gazing at it in all its glory.

Ancient Modern-July 28, 2006

Last night we went out to modern, just like we do almost every week. But there's a reason why we don't get tired of it, it's always a good time.

John Adams showed up with some of the highest airs in town. Apparently he hasn't rode in 3 months or so.

After modern, almost everybody there went out to this spot in Harrison High School. There are a bunch of ledges under part of a building so they're always dry even when it's raining. We rode some street in the rain.

Dane Wild just returned from Binghamton so he could ice pic this ledge.

bmx'ers are patient and wait their turn

The session was cut short when we got a visit from the law. Everyone said their good-byes and our night ended with being excited over gas that cost $2.99 and then some even chaper food when because we just spent so much on gas. I remember when it was 89 cents.

Anyway the point here is just that this was another plain old day. We went to work, we got out, and then we went to ride and had a good time. I hope you were as amused as us.

For more entertainment pop over to bmx.cc to get Jason P. Suchan's take on last weekend.
