New Year, New Site?-January 14th, 2008

I find that the longer I look at something that more I dislike it. This goes for everything but bmx where I could do x-ups and one handers forever. Everyone else is probably tired of looking at those but that's all I got so I don't care. Anyway, my patience for this site is all but and I have a feeling my computer is about to explode. Before it does I'm going to try and finish a little refresh here at veteran. Hopefully something more bloggish, easier for me to maintain and better for you to look at. The working deadline is two months. Coincidentally that is also the deadline for us to get some new shirts out there. We're also working on early February trip to Chicago - anyone interested?

Here is the recap of Ricky's 29th birthday that happened last week...

The man of the hour doing what every 29 year old should be.

I think Scott Goss can bunny hop a car.

Big Daddy Loaf with some lawn mower ninja kicks.

Robbie disappeared for a little while and then reappeared and exploded. Something is in the water.

Part of the festivities. Thanks to Patty and Ricky for bringing all the goodies. The cake turned everyone's mouth blue and the superman ice cream took me back to my youth.

Only Ricky can get away with the "I love knockers" shirt.

Steve Katz is the guy for all your sticker, t-shirts, and landscaping needs. This toboggan is preformed with a broken rib.

Some fellow girl riders came out for the late session. This is Angie Marino in action, somehow she is riding in slipper like shoes, I don't know how she does it. All the girls were very cool and a pleasure to meet. We're taking over, boys beware.

Marty being Marty, but at least he managed to stay conscious for the whole session.

Captain Phil.

This is what I look like two second before eating shit and lots of it.

It was good to see Ed, happily riding with all sorts of medical insurance.

Redford steve has conquered the tailwhip and with remarkable consistency, buc is jealous.

CONTEST ALERT

TRP will be having a mini ramp contest in the next couple weeks, I don't have all the details yet but as soon as they are available I will put them up.

Weekend at Ray's -January 24th, 2008

Did anybody else notice that there was a little time warp last week and my update was labeled 2007? Seriously, whenever you see me goof, you can call me on it, if I've got a booger hanging out of my nose, I want to know. Anyway, big news...

THERE'S A CONTEST AT TRP ON FRIDAY!!!! Tell your friends, tell everyone you know. If nothing else, you'll get a veteran shirt if you win and a fine story to tell. (Don't worry, I'm sure there'll be lots of other goodies for the victorious beside last year's model of a vet shirt)

In other news, we took our first, but not last, trip to Ray's and it was all we dreamed it would be. Albe's was also in attendance so the mit was well represented.

I've never been in a park where you can't see one end from the other.

Nina was holdin it down while her new tattoos and busted up ankle were healing.

Danger!

Rachel from Toledo is a racer and has been to TRP a few times before where I originally met her. After seeing her flow through the rhythm at Rays, she is my new hero. Super smooth and always having a blast.

I'm not sure what his name is, but we've seen him at warehouse before and the turndown deserves recognition.

Joe Clicked.

Another very cool ride I recently met, Angie was there as well flowing the big box.

Patamasaurus...or something like that.

Ali getting rugged in the indoor forest.

Kyle workin on that whip.

Brian ducking and covering.

Terry is kicking out those turndowns farther and farther everyday.

Jaime spent most of his time in the rafters.

Squirrel dialed the box.

Stop saying socks!

While Dillon was in the middle of his first backflip attempt ever, it was announced that he won a new Mongoose frame.

See.

The Michigan contingent made out with a lot of the prizes. If you want something from Albe's soon, Terry is your friend.

Carmickle beat the masses for his goodies.

The loot.

It's always good to run into afro Pat.

Allan has got 360 whips on resi.

Carmickle was doing barrel rolls.

Nick is a Ray's local and I'm jealous. He's got that quarter dialed. I hardly made it over to the other end of the park until the last minute. I didn't even know this quarter existed.

We managed to get buc on the other side of the camera for a minute, well sort of.

I learned something at Ray's. I learned I heart rhythms, small ones anyway. At least it wasn't the smallest one there. Another thing we learned is that we have to go back. February 23rd and 24th will be an all girls weekend there, but of course the boys are allowed too. I think that will be our next trip out. Maybe an overnighter with a little visit to the new Chenga on Saturday. Check the Ray's site for all the details. That is going to be one hectic weekend because...

...that Friday, February 22nd, there will be a jam in honor of my girl Dee. She is moving away to California which is sad, but then again it's California and there is no snow there so it's happy. Check here and TRP's site for all the details

TRP Mini Jam Photos-January 31, 2008

TRP was host to a mini ramp jam this past saturday and here are the photos to prove it.

I think this is one of my favorite photos taken by buc of all time. Thanks to Pat for being the subject.

Joe taught some kids all about the birds and bees with his outfit.

Pre-contest activities.

Dane and pegs.

So now for the contest...

Steve Blake was the commentator for the evening.

Chris John was cat like with the camera.

First the ams...

Jade seems to only ride during contests, but somehow he always has new tricks.

Brad is the tail whip king.

Adam, from Lake Orion, was the winner of the am class as well as the smallest tightest pants category.

On to the pros...

I think that's Kyle up there.

Steve Byrnes rode away from this double whip.

Biker Ben with a model table.

Smalls had consistent quality runs, and Craig was consistent in his shenanigans.

Craig may be the only person to take their contest runs to the song "Boot Scootin' Boogie"

I think Carmickle has more fun doing airs plain airs than anything else. Even though he can do turndowns both way and flares and too many other things to list here.

Nate Powell was fun to watch as usual, but I remember him being much smaller the last time I saw him. My, how the kids are growing. Nate was runner up.

Stewy was dialed on his run and was of course victorious.
