Unresolutions-January 4th, 2007

Well it is now the year 2007 and all that I have to show for it is a bunch of scribbles where a 7 has replaced a 6. I remember the 2000 fiasco where people thought the world would cease to exist at midnight. Anything to drum up those bottled water and duct tape sales I guess. Usually when the majority of people are thinking in a certain way I set out to find what's wrong with it and why I disagree. New Year's resolutions have joined the list of things that I have pondered beyond recognition. I don't really see why you think about what you need to change in your life at one point in time. Anyway, everyday is really the beginning of a new year. I figure you should think about that sort of thing all the time. People try and come up with some goal for the new year, and usually they all have the same three or four ideas, and will probably fail at it in the first week. It's a bad idea overall, and the real motive behind it is probably some company that stands to make a profit from all the robot resolutions. You'd be surprised how much stuff we get used to and think of as tradition when it was really born from some guy trying to make a buck. I've read that the engagement ring idea was invented by DeBeers (which is a diamond company). Makes you think, well it makes me think. Point here, is that everyday is worth a resolution and the one made at the beginning of the year is no better or worse than on the one made on day 271. Pardon my rant.

Buc has been pulling 15 hour days lately and I haven't gotten a change to see him let alone get the flash cards for an update. That's why we're taking so long, our apologies.

My resolution for today it to get quicker at the updates, my resolution for tomorrow is to spellcheck.

We didn't make it out to the Team Young party but it looks like we missed a really good time.

Finally...the update!

The other day Sparks was working on the inverted hand plant. He was saying he wants it higher, more towards the coping. I think it looks pretty good myself. It's gotta be a nice feeling to know you're doing something only a few other people can even attempt.

Kris K on the other side of a lens for a change.

Funky tire guy, as he was known in one of our other posts, is actually named Andy. He's from Hazel Park which is where my Mom is from. I've never heard anyone else say they were from there besides him. Wierd.

Timmy barspiniac.

Todd is a TRP local and has been a little scarce lately, so it was good to see him as it's always a good time. He's a fellow goofy footer and always offers sound advice.

Kevin is one of the funnest people to watch ride, this is one of the reasons why.

Davey P havin fun with it.

Dane Wild always has the most coordinated frame parts color scheme.

.

Lastly, Jeremy Ball was at the session with the rare unlook back. He and buc spent a good part of it telling stories of their younger days.

Late session on Saturday January 6th at TRP in honor of Ricky's 28th birthday. Come out and ride your bike and have some cake.

On a different note, things are not always as happy as we would like them to be. There's some sad news posted on Deliverance. If you didn't have a reason to come out to Kalamazoo next Saturday, you should now. As always, the bmx community reaches out to friends in need.

Be Where?-January 12th, 2007

Be here, that's where. Tomorrow at 4:30.

So last Saturday was TRP local, Ricky's, 28th birthday. The turnout was really good and it made for a very interesting session to say the least.

The Ricky family. I feel so bad, but after all the years of knowing Ricky and his wife Pat, I still don't know their last name. I'm gonna find out next time I see them. For shame. Happy 28th!

Nate Pow! and the Doschinator taking part in the festivities (Don't miss Craig in the back)

Craig showin off the yellow spokes.

Other random session at TRP, these could actually be from Saturday too. It's hard to keep track of all these photos.

Too tall kevin boosting from the mini to the spine.

We often run into Brett when riding at Wolverine. Very stylish rider with some bad ass toboggans.

Malcom with a balancing act.

Modern session on Sunday.

Pat and John torquing over the hip in that order.

During the last minutes of the session, Kevin was ice picking the rail (I think) and something went wront. He split open his chin, and his knee was about three times it's normal size. While he was holding his chin together he said he would be there again for the session on Tuesday. I didn't think that would really work out. Tuesday morning he got the knee drained and was there for the session that night, with a black eye from the crash as well.

At last we have new stikcers, die cuts this time - oooh ahhhh! We've even started working on our next one, applaud our punctuality.

Ooops!-January 17th, 2007

So I have this friend who has a web site, but who forgot to pay the internet bill. So it took way too long to update after a very fun ramp jam in Kalamazoo. Ok, it was me, I didn't pay the bill so everything you're about to see in is probably old news. But, something that can't be said enough is how great it is that everyone rose to the occasion to support a fellow rider and his family in their time of need. So many poeple came out for the Glenn Seals memorial and almost everyone pitched in for t-shirt or a sticker. I know it doesn't make things any easier for his family, but it has to be nice to see what it's like to be involved in the bmx community. Job well done to everyone involved.

As part of the old news, here is how things shook out for the jam.

1.Craig H. 2.Stewy 3.Jeremy Ball 4.Chris Gerber 5.Schneck

Everyone rode awesome, and I know for a fact the judges lamented over the ranking.

Scott Towne holding things down, Dave Moon doing something else.

Jeremy Ball with one of the many fine stunts preformed on the wall dedicated to Glenn.

Craig was dialed, which contributed to the victory. He was pulling alot of stuff first try. He must have had spaghetti before he rode.

I've seen a bunch Gerber's tailwhip flair all over, but I haven't seen this angle yet.

Carmichael owes you one.

Dane with his eyes on the prize.

Kevin's chin has fully healed in record time, allowing him to go after barspin fufanus on a lot of vert. Next time you slice something open, consult Kevin.

Stewy is one strong fellow.

Here's how he got so strong. Bookoo and Bowflex.

You can find a bunch more at Deliverance, Team Young, and Albes, if you haven't been there already.

It was a fine weekend, thanks to everyone that came out and helped out.

Another Fine Week-January 21st, 2007

This past week was fantastic so I am extra motivated to actually do this update quickly. There were a couple good Modern sessions, then a nice late session provided by Thomas at TRP with all but one of the Cobras, then an all girl late night session on Saturday. It all went on in my own backyard, so not too many miles on the car and minimal gas money. Score.

Lately, buc is getting more and more fancy with the photos.

John Reed with the Lookback at Modern. Modern may be moving to a new location, stay tuned.

Dane stylin the table.

Davey P coming out of the shadows.

Friday night, Thomas rented out Transitions and fun ensued.

Solan peeking over at you. Solan innocently dropped in right in front of Sean Rakos who replied "I just got snaked by a Cobra." I laughed for a while.

Yankee.

Fowlerville Pat with the one footed x-up. At every session he always throws in the coolest looking nacnac. More people should do those even though they're outlawed, they're underrated.

Ladies night.

Much thanks to Dee for putting this whole event together. It was a great time and the turnout was awesome. Also thanks to everyone that came out. It was good to see Nina and Stacy. I was also able to meet some new riders, Michelle from PA and Lauren. Jessica Ausec flew in from Colorado and is always entertaining.

Jessica is the real deal, and she has so much fun. It's all fun to watch, she falls hard and laughs and pulls some tough shit and still laughs, like a double peg on the hithching post, it's great.

Nina was pullin smooth foot jams all over the park. Later in the session she learned Canadians in about 2 minutes.

She also pulled a bunch of the cleanest barspins over the box that I've ever seen.

Jody impressed everyone with her quick progress.

Christine gettin over the box.

I'm sneaking in one of me.

I was able to get to know Stacey a little better at this jam, awesome rider and so much fun to talk to.

Stacey again flowing over the street spine.

I believe her name is Emily and if I'm wrong, I'm really sorry. But she's another one of the youngins making quick progress.

Kristin is back in action now that she and Bob have gotten to know one another.

All the ladies (Dee, Christine, Hanan, Jodi, Stacey, Michelle, and Kristin. Above: Nina and Jessica)

Thanks again to everyone that came out. We seriously need to take a trip out to Pittsburgh.

You might find more pictures here bmx.cc and maybe at High Five too.

Shoes More Traveled Than I-January 31st, 2007

I hate to get new shoes, you have to break them in, and ride all wierd for about a week. I dread it, but I had to do it this past week. I refuse to wear any of the girly usually pink shoes that they have in stores in my size. So I usually order guy shoes online because they never have the right size in stores. I did this the other day and then tracked them to see where they were. They were in Louisville, but I was not. How shitty!

So this past week we were supposed to take a trip out to Ray's as we haven't been there yet. Everyone has said that it will be the greatest indoor park I ever ride. So Sunday comes around and we were supposed to meet Nina and Stacey out there. Of course, it doesn't snow for the first few months of winter and now it's out of control. The snow kept us all at home so none of us made it out there. Another weekend gone by with out a trip to Ray's. Maybe this Sunday will be better.

Most of the pics this week are from TRP, well all of them are.

We're gonna let Craig start off this one.

Carmichael experimenting with the new section at TRP, well in this picture it is still the old way, but now it has been detructed and the new ramps are going up pretty quickly. Looks like it's gonna be pretty good. TRP is going through a little refresh with this new section and the new hip off the little mini. It's definately worth checking out. Maybe we'll have a jam in the new section when it's completed????

Brett working on a long x-up manual.

Our boy Terry is growing up so quickly.

Miskys got a new puppy. Just a head's up for Sean, BUC loves that puppy and he may plot to kidnap it, I've overheard the plans.

The brakes that BUC lost off his bike a few months ago were found by my brother.

Jaime with the 180 Toboggan.

Carmichael modeling the newest in bmx fashion with some help from Todd. Forget the girl pants, it's all about elastic wasted, non gender specific wind pants.

Thomas had another rent out this past Saturday, they're always mellow fun sessions. Here he is x-upping a lot of bike.

Sassy was there. Right when I was putting up this picture a lady on TV said the word sassy, I thought it was destiny.

John Adams, the rider not the president, doing his best Sassy reflection.

Timmy taking his barspin to places it's never been. This is one of the new lines.

We went to a couple Modern sessions over the week, but didn't take any pictures. On Monday some of the Modern locals, Dane, Kenny(minus a few of his teeth) and John Reed came out to TRP. Here's Dane testing out a wall that has probably never been rode.

At some point during the week we went out to eat and the waitress said that BUC looked just like Gary Busey and that he could make a lot of money doing impressions. I don't think there will be a career change anytime soon.

Ray's on Sunday or maybe Warehouse on Saturday, we need a little change of pace.
